CHAMPS Advocacy Event and Luncheon
PURPOSE:

  • To provide students with an opportunity to meet other students who are strong self-advocates

  • To provide students with an opportunity to interact with successful adults who are deaf or hard of hearing

  • To offer an opportunity for students to socialize with other students who are hard of hearing or deaf

  • To expose students to a program that motivates them to think about self-advocacy and the role that it can play in their current and future lives 


DETAILS:

  • Sit down luncheon with one DHH mentor at each table

  • Program Presentation varies each year but always involves a speaker or speakers who address topics relating to self-advocacy.

  • Interpreters as well as real-time captioning are provided for all presentations.

  • Exhibition booths related to student needs, summer camps, colleges, etc. are provided for student and parents before during and after the presentation and luncheon.
