CHAMPS Advocacy Event and Luncheon
PURPOSE:
-
To provide students with an opportunity to meet other students who are strong self-advocates
-
To provide students with an opportunity to interact with successful adults who are deaf or hard of hearing
-
To offer an opportunity for students to socialize with other students who are hard of hearing or deaf
-
To expose students to a program that motivates them to think about self-advocacy and the role that it can play in their current and future lives
DETAILS:

Sit down luncheon with one DHH mentor at each table
-
Program Presentation varies each year but always involves a speaker or speakers who address topics relating to self-advocacy.

Interpreters as well as real-time captioning are provided for all presentations.

Exhibition booths related to student needs, summer camps, colleges, etc. are provided for student and parents before during and after the presentation and luncheon.
